Luang Phabang Adventure Biking Tour 13 Days

Swim at Kuang Si, visit the bears, trek through peaceful villages and take a fun bike ride, all in one day. This trip runs Luang Prabang. Visit the Kuang Si Waterfall and the Free the Bears enclosure and take a trek through remote villages, before enjoying a swift and thrilling, mostly downhill bike ride back to Luang Prabang.

Day 1: arrival in Luang Prabang ( D ) 
Start with a meeting with our specialists and a short sunset ride along town.

Day 2: roundtrip to Kuang Si Waterfall 60 km ( B )
An easy ride to the scenic Kuang Si Waterfall along ethnic villages such as Hmong and Khmu. Enjoy a swim in the clear water basins of the Kuang Si Waterfall.

Day 3: transfer to Phonsavan ( B , D )
With our bikes on the back-up car, we head out to Phonsavan to cut out the more travelled roads and thesteep rides into the Lao highlands. In the afternoon, we arrive in Xieng Kuang’s Provincial capital town, Phonsavan. Today, we visit the first of many sites of the mysterious Plain of Jars.

Day 4: roundtrip to Plain of Jars 30 km (  B , D )
This is a perfect ride to get used to the new climate as we are over 1000 meter above sea level.
The plain of jars still remains a place of unknown history and diverse speculations. Why did people made these amazing stone formations and what where they used for?

Day 5: Phonsavan – Muang Kham 48 km ( B  , L , D )
Our first stop would be in a Hmong village where we can wander around to experience a little bit the different lifestyle of these hill tribe villagers. A nearby waterfall can be visited; the villagers know how to guide us there.

Day 6: Muang Kham – Nam Neun 87 km (  B , L , D )
You have to start early to have enough time for stops along the way. The Tham Piew Cave, which has been an important hide-out place during the Indochina war, is worth a visit. You have to cycle over a few passes and reach the little town Nam Neun in the afternoon.

Day 7: Nam Neun – Vieng Thong 68 km ( B , L , D )
Today we have to make our way through some bad dirt roads and some high levelled areas, which offer great views and amazing sceneries. To reach our overnight stop we have to get up early.

Day 8:  relaxing day ( B )
Hang-out and relax or discover the surrounding area. There is a hot spring near by.

Day 9: Vieng Thong – Muang Mouay 70 km ( B , L , D )
Another scenic ride of 70 km brings us to a small village spot.

Day 10:  Muang Mouay – Vieng Kham 51 kmm ( B , L , D )
The amazing landscapes will help you to bring out your camera and especially in the end when we drop down to the small town of Vieng Kham. It’s just another wonderful biking day.

Day 11: Vieng Kham – Nong Khiaw 49 km ( B , L, D )
A biking day waits for us with one of the best mountain sceneries on this trip. The fact that we have to climb ,3 passes today explains why we will feel much better when we reach the down hill point that will guide us along the scenic valley of Nong Khiaw, located on the banks of the Nam Ou.

Day 12: Nong Khiaw – Huai Kan (boat ride) -Luang Prabang 66 km ( B )
The day starts with a relaxed 2-3 hours boat ride on the Nam Ou River, going downstream with fine views at the limestone mountains. You will ride your bike again from Huai Kan onwards. Following the slightly going up and down Road Nr. 13, you will cycle to your final destination Luang Prabang.

Day 13: Departure day ( B )
